Stop Blaming Yourself
How many times have you tried to eat healthier…only to find yourself right back in your same old unhealthy routine? Well it’s not your fault! Your brain is actually to blame for your failed attempts!
Your brain is like a pre-set program, and each day it wants to run the same program – over and over, day after day. It is designed to keep us in homeostasis (safe and balanced by running on the same program). This explains why bad habits are so hard to change!
For example, when you try to skip that evening snack, your brain senses a change in routine and says “What’s going on here? You ALWAYS munch on chips while watching tv!”, and you head for the chips in the pantry! So much for your attempt to change your bad habit!
Your Brain and your repetitive thoughts are to blame!
If you’ve spent most of your life eating fast food for dinner, watching tv on the couch while indulging on a cupcake at night, then that’s what your brain is expecting you’ll do each day. Our brains don’t like change, just like we don’t like change! In fact, we think nearly the same thoughts every single day!
We have to intentionally interrupt that repetitive thought cycle loop in order to make long-lasting change in our lives.
